GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi inspects ongoing civic projects in Banjara Hills bastis, engaging with residents and officials.

On Friday, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, along with her team, went to the Banjara Hills Division to tour the area in detail and check the ongoing civic works. The visit was mainly about concrete (CC) roads, water pipelines, and sewerage which cost Rs 10 crore altogether.
The Mayor during her visit took NBT Nagar, Uday Nagar, Ambedkar Nagar, Sriram Nagar, Prem Nagar, Khaja Nagar, and Bola Nagar and met the residents personally to get the local issues and concerns. The officials were told to finish the works that are awaiting completion, many of which are said to be in the last stages within only 20 days of foundation laying.
The people living nearby were delighted with the pace of project execution and were grateful for the Mayor’s concern in the matter of instant completion and municipal improvement. Vijayalakshmi also mentioned that the pending works in the division worth Rs 2 crore would be paid for and started immediately.
Parents at NBT Nagar expressed their worries concerning Anganwadi Centre–2 during the visit, which is being run in very small rented accommodation right now. They said that the children’s health and safety are at risk because of the insufficient facilities. The Mayor in reply to their worries said that plans will be made for the construction of a permanent building for the centre as soon as Government land is identified for the same. Moreover, she mentioned that the meeting with the District Collector could be set up to expedite the process, the main issue being the children's well-being.
The inspection of the Mayor is an indication and a proof of the commitment of GHMC to the rapid and more efficient development of infrastructure, better sanitation, and improved civic amenities for the Banjara Hills bastis, thereby elevating the overall quality of life of the inhabitants.
